Position Description: |
The Director of Annual Giving & Leadership Gifts is an integral part of advancement and progress towards strategic priorities at Hockaday. The Director of Annual Giving & Leadership Gifts is responsible for all aspects of the School’s Annual and Planned Giving efforts, as well as special donor stewardship events and projects and other development projects. In addition, the Director of Annual Giving & Leadership Gifts is charged with strategically and systematically growing the number of Leadership Annual Fund Donors at each of the leadership levels. |

Essential Functions: |
Primary job duties and responsibilities include: - Implement a comprehensive, year-long strategic annual giving solicitation strategy
- Raise the necessary revenue to attain the pre-established annual goals
- Strategically and systematically grow the number of leadership level Annual Fund Donors at each of the leadership levels in order to meet rising goals set by the Board of Trustees and School Leadership
- Reach annual goals for trustees, parents, and alumnae, as well as grandparents, past-parents, and faculty and staff
- Prepare reports and analytics to monitor annual giving revenue and budgets
- Track all donor pledges, payments, and payment schedules
- Effectively identify new and steward new and existing leadership donors to the Annual Fund
- Manage a major gift portfolio for both the Annual Fund and other strategic development initiatives, as directed
- Solicit and manage Annual Fund campaigns relating to all constituencies (parents, alumnae, grandparents, past parents, trustees, faculty, staff, etc.)
- Manage all direct mail vendors, online giving platforms, and wealth screening services
- Manage student philanthropy education and senior internship program
- Manage special Annual Fund efforts such as North Texas Giving Day and the spring Annual Fund Green Out Challenge
- Recruit and manage over 120 fundraising volunteers from a variety of constituencies
- Manage all Annual Fund related events (e.g., volunteer trainings, letter signings, phonathons, and leadership donor stewardship events)
- Work with the communications team to produce all Annual Fund marketing materials, graphics, and community wide messages
- Manage department website updates
- Manage production of the endowment report and all endowment reporting to endowment fund donors; work to identify new, potential endowment donors and fund holders
- Manage various donor stewardship special projects, student thank you notes, and gifting efforts
- Manage and grow the School’s Planned Giving 1913 Society and Planned Giving website.
- Support Unrestricted Fundraising efforts through coordination of naming opportunities, volunteer management, and donor prospects
- Manage all campaign and general campus donor signage
- Stay abreast of trends in giving and translate trends to the independent school environment
- Maintain a clear understanding of the Gift Acceptance Policy and any other Board and institutional policies applicable to the work of the Office of Development and External Affairs
- Manage Annual Giving Manager(s), Stewardship and Special Events Coordinator, and Temporary Support, as needed.
- Manage the state registration process for charitable solicitations
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience: |
- Undergraduate degree required
- 10-15 years Annual Fund and Major Gift experience required
- Experience in a Development Office
- Excellent volunteer management skills essential
- Excellent organizational skills and affinity for detail essential
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Raisers Edge skills preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, to set priorities and meet deadlines, and to be flexible
- Some night and weekend work required
- Some travel required
- Must successfully complete background screening and verification
- Must have the ability to work in a school environment through satisfactory completion of all legally required and School-required background and screening checks and verifications, including criminal and sex offender background checks.

Training: |
- Participate in all requisite School trainings prior to the start of the school, and throughout the School year.
- Attend required staff development and training sessions throughout the year
- Attend periodic in-service meetings
- Acknowledge receipt of the current Employee Handbook and are responsible for reviewing the contents and abiding by rules, policies and procedures stated in the Handbook or otherwise by the School
- Abide by Hockaday’s Code of Ethics and Conduct

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: |
- Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate
- Regularly uses close and distance vision, including working at a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Occasionally required to move around the office and campus; works at a desk for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally move items across the campus/classroom/office
- Sometimes works in a stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts with stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Ability to periodically work flexible hours to support before and after-school or weekend events
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students, fellow staff, and community members
