| The Hockaday School is seeking a passionate and skilled Piano Instructor to join our Private Music Lessons Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piano instruction, with expertise in various styles and genres. The Piano Instructor will be responsible for guiding students in developing their piano technique, musicality, and performance skills. |

- Provide individualized Piano lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels
- Create and implement tailored lesson plans to address each student’s developmental needs and goals
- Instruct students in piano technique, music theory, sight-reading, rhythm, and musical interpretation
- Select appropriate repertoire across a variety of styles and genres
- Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical abilities
- Prepare students for performances, auditions, and competitions as needed
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement
- Communicate effectively with students and families regarding goals, progress, and practice expectations
- Stay current with trends and developments in piano pedagogy, repertoire, and performance practices
- Collaborate with other music instructors and staff members to coordinate recitals, workshops, and other events
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and repertoire
- Uphold program policies, scheduling expectations, and professional standards
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Piano Performance, or related field, Master’s degree preferred
- Proven experience teaching piano students across a range of age and skill levels
- Strong understanding of music theory, technique, and pedagogy
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential
- Organization skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment
- Availability to teach during flexible hours, including after school

| In this role, you will.... |
- Participate in all requisite School trainings prior to the start of the school, and throughout the School year.
- Attend required staff development and training sessions throughout the year
- Attend periodic in-service meetings
- Acknowledge receipt of the current Employee Handbook and are responsible for reviewing the contents and abiding by rules, policies and procedures stated in the Handbook or otherwise by the School
- Abide by Hockaday’s Code of Ethics and Conduct

| Physical Requirements and Work Environment: |
- Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate
- Regularly uses close and distance vision, including working at a computer screen for extended periods of time; ability to observe students from various distances
- Frequently required to move around the office/classroom; works at a desk for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30lbs. across the campus/classroom/office
- Ability to periodically support before and after-school or weekend events
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students, fellow staff and community members
